My new Tortilla Press!

Isn’t it beautiful? :)

This is the recipe:

  • 2 cups masa
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • squashed in a cut-up sandwich bag with my new tortilla press
  • cooked in dry hot skillet 30 seconds, flip, 30 sec, flip, 30 sec. Done.

How easy is that? I say “ha!” to the $4 dry corn tortillas at the supermarket. A 3 kg bag of masa cost just under $3 at Canadian Superstore… all in all, we have a healthy, and really inexpensive easy wrap that even the kids love.

Stuffings that we use:

  • tuna salad
  • cream cheese & cucumber, rolled up, and cut in slices, then laid on the side to look like sushi, sometimes with raisin smiley faces on them.
  • margy & cheese slices for the kids
  • pb & j
  • leftover turkey, mayo, cream cheese, or cranberry sauce.
