Gluten Free Play Dough

We’re cleaning out the gluten!

Here’s our replacement for the brand name Playdough (containing wheat flour):

Mix together in heavy saucepan:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • food coloring (I use cool aid packets)
  • 1 1/4 cup rice flour

Add:

  • 1 cup water

Heat over low heat, scraping the bottom and sides constantly until it pulls away from pan and changes to a more translucent color.  Do not UNDER cook this or it will be gooey.

Remove from heat.  Cool to touch.

Kneed until soft and pliable – fun, fun!  :)

Thanks for this…I’ve been wondering about making playdough without wheat flour, but I’ve been to lazy to search for a recipe. :)

  2. I always wondered if there was an alternative to playdoh with gluten, cool! :)
