New Product – Prana Bar

We were sent a couple samples to try, and I ADORED them!  They were too coconut-ty for Mike, and I wouldn’t let the kids try them because I have a job to do.  And these babies – tasted like Coconut macaroons – I love my job.

Warning – these are NOT for weight loss!  They are for energy and possess raw, organic, vegan foods that have calories inherent but also (I suspect) don’t create a huge sugar-rush either as there is so much fiber and protein to keep the blood sugars all in line.   Here’s what they say:

Ingredients of the Coconut Acai bar:

Organic Almond Butter, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Date Paste, Organic Dried Coconut, Organic Almonds, Organic Raisins, Organic Puffed Amaranth, Organic Acai Dry Powder, Sea Salt

Amount per serv. %DV
Total Fat 13g 19%
Sat Fat 1.5g 8%
Cholest 0mg 0%
Sodium 35mg 1%
Tot Carb 26g 9%
Fiber 3g 11%
Sugars 18g
Protein 4g

One bar is 220 calories, 110 from fat.

This was the other bar that I was sent: the Boomi Apricot Cashew.  Yeah, its a super-tough job.

The stats on this one:

Cashews, Apricots, Honey, Dates, Crisp Rice, Amaranth, Apples, Natural Apricot Flavor, Salt.
Serv size: 1bar
Calories 190
Fat Cal 60
Amount per serv. %DV

Cholest 0mg 0%
Sodium 75mg 3%
Tot Carb 28g 9%
Dietary Fiber 3g 12%
Sugars 13g
Protein 4g 8%

This was nice and chewy – although more like a soft natural-fruit bar.  My preference was definitely the first one, the coconut macaroon one.  It made a delicious dinner a while ago.

Enjoy!
