Ole! Its a Mexican Fiesta including an Old El Paso Giveaway!

Giveaway is CLOSED – thank you to all who entered!

My favorite thing in the whole world is a PINATA.  I love them.  In fact children really are not the best participants.  I mean they can’t swing very well. at all.  And their aim – puh-lease.  Pinatas really should be left for the more mature audience.  Those of us who want to blind fold ourselves, put a bat in our hands and wack at the paper mache until it falls into little bits of candy-goodness.

And my second favorite thing about the Mexican culture is their COLORS.  Who doesn’t love giant ribbons of red, yellow and green?  And music? And dance?  And FOOD!

For an awesome Margarita recipe, and all the party decoration ideas you need visit Pizzazzerie (the picture above is from her fabulous Mexican Fiesta).

For the food?  As luck would have it, below is an Old El Paso Giveaway!

Food Should Taste Good *Giveaway*

This contest is extended!!! We’ll draw a winner on Monday!!

We have our first SPONSORED giveaway!  I’m getting famous – too bad you can’t see my happy dance!  We all have our road to travel.  :D

We tried 6 varieties of Food Should Taste Good’s Cracker/ chips.  Here’s our fave’s:

Haley was a big fan of the Sweet Potato.

Megan really loved the Works!

the works

And Emma loved the OLIVE! I’ll just never figure out their tastes!  olive

My favorite was a toss up between the Jalapeno (which wasn’t very spicy at all) and the Multigrain. Mike liked the Works. My favorite thing about them was their obvious quality – right from the bag they are fresh and yummy. You can tell something that is well made, ya know? And the flavors are real – not really tasting real, really real.

Find a retail store here.

AND they’re giving away a box to a lucky winner here on my blog! What flavor would you like to try? Leave a comment and I’ll draw a winner on Friday! This contest is open to Canadians and Americans.

Currently they are offering $1 off on their website!

Winner of Sugar Cookie Mix

Congrats to Christine of Without Adornment: the quest to be myself. I’ll be shipping out this box of cookie mix on Friday, m’kay?

And to be clear – I have NOT tried this mix!  some of you said you were going to give it a try, so you’ll have to let ME know how it goes!  Unfortunately manufacturers aren’t pounding down my door to try new products.  Maybe after ya’ll make me wildly popular?  So I haven’t tried this mix, and I’m going to use Christine as the guinea pig.  How are  you with that, Christine?  :)

I’ll be keeping an eye on Christine’s blog to see if she posts a review of this company/ mix.

Tomorrow I’m posting the most delicious chocolate cake that I made last weekend!

Cheers,

Cathy

10K Challenge – Giveaway

I’m so sorry my faithful readers – this poor blog has been sorely neglected lately!  I have however been working on recipes and eating.  ;)   Mike, my dear hubby, and resident celiac has come up with an absolutely divine chicken & mushroom alfredo.  I have bugged him about the recipe and I just might resort to threatening soon to get that up for you.  It is soooo yummy.  Even the kids liked it!

Last week, we did a lot of dining out (at McDonalds no less!) yuck!  Hubby didn’t get contaminated though – that place has some pretty rigid guidelines.  I was watching the kitchen staff while waiting for my order, and I saw some young kid putting the burgers together.  And he actually put down the wrong spatula, and retrieved the apparently, correct spatula for the chicken breasts.  He put it directly in a box without touching a thing!  I have new faith in that place.  Which is so handy for the other-than-food-reasons:  the play place & mommy’s sanity.

In Canada at least, the french fries are gluten free, and so are the salads without croutons.  And of course the ice cream.

So down to the giveaway: this place above – the Triumph Dining company (that sells celiac directories of restaurants and guides) is giving away a single dining card (usually $2.50 ea) that apparently has all the information a chef needs to cook meals without gluten.  They say that if they reach 15,000 cards given away, they will donate $10,000 to a gluten-free related charity.

Kinda win-win for us, no?  Go check it out!
