Gluten Free Soy Sauce – And Breakfast Sausages

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find gluten free soy sauce?  That and breakfast sausages = impossible!  {almost}

Introducing….

Wait for it….

Are you paying attention…

Seriously – listen up!

The cutest-little-fishy-containered-little-soya-branded-single-serving-gluten-free-less-sodium Soy Sauce ever.

Are they not seriously cute?  My girls were so infatuated with these little containers they seriously would ASK for rice for dinner.  We had them on rice and fish until they were all gone.  I considered keeping the containers and refilling them because they were so darn cute. But would you like to sit there and try to suck up soy sauce through the itty bitty hole in the fishy mouth?  I didn’t think so.

These would be absolutely perfect in the lunch kit or bento box.  The flavor was mild and the kids – all of them – adored it!

I found it to be less salty than other soy sauces by far, and not nearly as ‘potent’.

Watch Out World

I hereby declare that this company is going to take the world by storm in the summer of 2012.

Here’s my proof:

Speaks for itself.

A team of fun-loving young people.

Little Soy Ninjas - Truly.

His Smile Says It All

Would you like to know how this soy sauce compares with other brands besides the absolutely KICK A$$ marketing?

Sure, it tastes great.

Yes, its low sodium (not sure I care about that…).

It’s Gluten FREE!

And they have ninjas.

The Skillet “Surprise”

However, when you look closely there’s nothing surprising in it – just a couple days worth of leftovers.  :D

  • 3 cups or so cooked rice
  • 1 pkg scramble fried ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup or so of cooked veggies (I used a freezer mix plus some leftover peas)
  • 4-5 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup or so of water (as needed)
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1.5 Tbsp white vinegar
  • dash of Italiano seasoning (this prepared mix of herbs from Club House is gluten free)

So I cooked the onions in a skillet, added all the other ingredients, covered and heated on medium until hot through out.  Maybe took 10 minutes?  It doesn’t need it, but everything is better to a kid with ketchup.  And that does make it more surprising doesn’t it?  :)

Glazed Salmon Fillets

This is sooo easy and requires 4 ingredients – including the salmon.  :)

  • 4 4″ salmon fillets, defrosted or fresh
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 c water
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  1. Heat skillet to med.
  2. Add salmon & water to poach.
  3. Drizzle soy sauce & sugar evenly over all fillets.
  4. Cover and cook approx. 3-4 minutes per side, depending on thickness.  Try not to overcook – salmon is so yummy it is a crying shame when it is so cooked that it is dry!  THAT, my friends, is OVERcooked salmon.
  5. Remove from pan, and cut into chunks to use with Almond Salmon Salad. (new recipe coming tomorrow!
