CLOSED!

Thank you to everyone for entering the draw. Marcia won with comment #1 tonight!

Introducing A Conscious Box

Totally new to me too. So here’s the deal. Its a box. Yep. Just like that. This one comes to your door once a month, based on a subscription plan. It is full of an assortment of products and you get them without having to do anything. Seriously. (Dude! As my daughter would say.)

Why?

A. Lets you explore companies worthy of your patronage without having to do ANY research! Or shopping. Or leaving your pj’s. These companies and products are all ethical and purpose driven (as opposed to financially driven), environmentally friendly, pure and natural.

B. Saves time – set it and forget it! Until the little box arrives, at which time you eagerly explore each item and hide the chocolate before the kids get home to claim it!

For example – MARCH – from the website: “In the upcoming box for March, you’ll discover super-powered Spring boosts, delicious snacks and goodies, and useful tools and tips to help with spring cleaning projects.”

Free Sample?

You’d think this would be a pretty expensive endeavor – but I was surprised to see that it is only $20/month! PLUS – for one of my readers – you can win a 3 month subscription! This is open to residents of the US only – sorry! (Next one’s for CA too!)

To win:

Head to ConsciousBox.com and create a profile! When selecting a box, just select the Gluten Free selection (or Vegan)

Head to Facebook.com/ConsciousBox and tell them I sent you!! If ALL of you go there – I’ll get a shout-out too!

Like and/or share their FB page as your conscience dictates.

Good luck!

Disclosure: I may receive payment or goods for my review. But all opinions are my own.

A couple of nights ago on the way home, I noticed what looked like a black plastic garbage bag sitting in the middle of the road. As I was cursing the evil-doer that was fouling up our neighborhood, the bag hopped away! Turns out it was one of the many bunnies that inhabit (some would say infest) our lovely Pacific Rim city.

Which brings us to today’s post on Chubby Bunny Marshmallows. These bunnies won’t lay waste to your garden, or leave little droppings as reminders of their passing, but no promises on what they will do to your waist!

I can tell you the sample the company sent us was so delicious it was inhaled practically before the delightful wrapping was removed. A tasty treat indeed. Our favorites were the strawberries and chocolate, and there were many more delicious flavours. Most are gluten-free, so theoretically I should have been able to taste them all, but as it turns out, the girls got to them so fast I only got to sample a couple myself. (The reviews from the girls were equally as rave)

Check out Chubby Bunny Marshmallows (Flash required) for more details.

I have a fabulous new cookbook to tell you about. When I got it, I was a little apprehensive because of the title:

4 Ingredients Gluten Free

Um, exactly how yummy can four ingredients be? Fast, yes. Yummy? I was sure to include my standard, “If I can’t recommend it to my family and friends, I reserve the right NOT to publish a review… yada yada…” To which, the PR lady was all very – oh, of course, blah blah… This is how the blog world works – did you know? yada yada… blah blah… and vice versa.

So, could there be a better review than to show you these pictures?

I present Yam & Feta frittata: (recipe below)

And because I’m a thorough reviewer (cough, cough), I also made the Herb-crusted fish, Quesadillas, Broccoli & Cheddar Nuggets (huge hit with everyone), Pea & Ham Soup. And used a bunch more of the recipes for inspiration in other dishes and ‘surprise skillets’.

Recipes still on my list of must try:

Toasted Camembert Sandwich

Date & Walnut Pears

Asparagus Wraps

Warm Cheese Dip

Brazilian Fried Bananas

So, do I recommend this book? As long as you get your own, ’cause I ain’t sharing.

So I have this giveaway going on for an entire Mexican Gift Basket, which includes this fabulous Tortilla Warmer:

{except the giveaway basket has ONE red bowl, not six as pictured}

And that cool red string-looking thing – that is a placemat – and they are so FUN with the yellow napkins. Enter for the giveaway here!

So, how to use a Tortilla Warmer?

- place a dry paper towel in the bottom of it

- separate the tortillas and place them in the tortilla warmer. There should be lots of room at the top of the container.

- These heating instructions are for the plastic tortilla warmers: microwave on high for corn tortillas: 1-4 @25 seconds; flour tortillas 1-4 @15 seconds.

- do not lift lid until ready to serve. Watch for steam when lifting the lid.

- if there’s too much moisture and the tortillas are sticking to each other, add wax paper between each one

That’s it!

PS – for the terra cotta tortilla warmers you’ll need to quickly pan-fry each tortilla and add to the container, replacing the lid after each one.

The tortillas will keep warm for 30 minutes to one hour.

Good luck on the giveaway!
